The enrollment documents for 2012-13 are on the second page of the superintendent’s blog. They are also on the website at mcseagles.net.
School Fundraisers for 2011-12
School Fundraisers
In order not to burden our families with a number of all school fundraisers we ask that all fundraising projects be presented to our development director. We have many groups that need to raise funds for various projects. Mr. Brandenburg will coordinate the fundraisers to prevent conflicts and make sure that we achieve the best success for each endeavor.
A number of our fundraisers do not require extra expense for our families. Our scrip program and market day are purchases of products that families already buy. Box top collections also raise funds without adding additional expense to our families.
Our main fundraiser this year will be our spring auction and flower sale. We wish to limit our major fundraisers to one a year. Last year we had the Walk-a-thon and this year will be our auction year. If you can help, please contact the MCS Foundation office at ext. 1189. or email mcsfoundation@mcseagles.net.
Social Networking
Here is an article on the pros and cons of social networking. Facebook can be a useful tool but also can raise some concerns. Bro. Fernandez addresses those here:
Update From an Alumnus
I just wanted the school to know that I have just been promoted to Lieutenant Colonel in the Florida Air National Guard/Air Force. Currently, I work in America’s Air Operations Center (AOC) as a Flight Commander. My duties are to monitor all of the airspace covering the United States and the airspace for approaches into the United States. We react if we become suspicious of any potential air threat to the nation. As for my parents (Ralph’s mom taught at MCS), they are still in Tennessee but are taking a lot of trips to Florida as both my sister and I now live down here.

Music is Big at MCS
The school band program is under the direction of Cheryl Riegel. Band participation has really grown. Band instruction begins in fifth grade. The junior high band now has 46 students and the high school band went from 2 to 20 students over the past two years. The school also has a pep band. A drum clinic was held on March 2nd and was a big success. A trumpet performance and clinic will be held on March 25th. It will be given by a professional for all the bands. The Christmas concert, where the students performed, was excellent! The last concert of the year is on May 22nd at 2:00 p.m. in the school gym.
The Middletown Christian School String program started in 2007 under the direction of Jessica Moore and currently has 40 students enrolled. The students perform in two concerts during the year, performing a variety of music both sacred and secular. They have also performed as soloists or in small groups at various events throughout the year, including church, chapel, competitions, recitals, homecoming, National Honor Society induction, Open House, and most recently, the Middletown Chamber of Commerce Business Expo. The high school strings have also competed and done well at the Bob Jones University High School Festival.
It is exciting to see God develop the talents and abilities that He has given these children.
Thank You for a Successful Open House
Over sixty new families attended the MCS Open House on Sunday, February 27. A number of new families also visited the Preschool/Daycare. Teachers displayed student work and their curriculum. The strings students played during the two hours. The life skills room baked cookies and cupcakes. Refreshments were served in the cafetorium and the concession stand. The National Honor Society gave tours as well as school board members and administration. Thank you for all who made the MCS Open House a success.
MCS Open House – Sunday
We open up the school for a good look on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. Teachers will be displaying student work. Refreshments will be served in the cafeteria. The new enrollment packages will be available. Please come and invite others to attend.
Students in Middletown who go to Rosa Parks, Amanda, Verity or Creekview are eligible for the Ohio EdChoice scholarship this year. Information will be available on how to apply. Parents can also contact the school office at 513-423-4542 or email ewallace@mcseagles.net.
The students at MCS score an average two years above the national norms on achievement tests. Ninety-five percent of the graduates go on to higher education. The music program includes strings, band and vocal. Technology is used to enhance studies. Two well-equipped libraries are available for research. Art, culinary skills and sewing are some of the electives for high school. Drama and all season sports round out the program.
The most important aspect of MCS is the participation in the study of the Bible. Every grade studies the Bible every day, and all subjects are taught from a Christian world view. MCS teaches right and wrong, character, and principles for living from God’s word.
President Abe Visits MCS
Abraham Lincoln (aka Mr. Crabtree) visited the MCS classrooms on February 3rd. He will be celebrating a birthday this month. He also gave a lecture to the 8th grade American History classes.
